Wisdom: our relationship with God.

I am looking at Psalms 111: 1-10

(The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom - v10)

This is a beautiful Psalm, it resonates how Awesome and Glorious our God  is. The psalmist is describing his love and praise for God. Showing recognition to all the wonderful work that God has done, Majestic are his deeds and His Righteousness will endures forever. How Gracious, Compassionate, Faithful and Trustworthy He is. How Kind and Powerful He is by the wonders people have seen.
God's love for us, is a little scary to be truthful. "too good to be true" comes to mind. I am sure we have all felt like that at some point, when someone wonderful  has come into our life. God has given us so much and we are blessed. Wisdom and Power does belong to Him and He wants to share it with us.
Job 12:7-10 "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. which of these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of mankind".

My life is always better when I put my trust in the Holy Spirit, He is my comforter.

2 Corinthians 1: 3-4 "Blessed be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God".

Amen.

Wisdom our compass

What is wisdom?

What is the difference between wisdom and knowledge?

The dictionary defines wisdom as "the ability to discern or judge what is true, right or lasting". This is a pattern that occurs throughout the bible. Knowledge on the other hand, is defined as having information through experience, reasoning or acquaintance.
God wants us to have knowledge of Him and what is expects from us. At the same time, having wisdom is just as important. Knowing facts about God and the bible is not all there is in having wisdom, it is a gift  from God as well - James 1-5 explains in more detail.
Wisdom is what God will bless us with, so that we can praise His name and live a better way of life.

The book of Proverbs is a good place to study and know God's wisdom. Proverbs 1: 5 - "Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance".
Knowledge is what is gathered over time by studying the Scriptures and the wisdom we gain will act on our knowledge. One compliments the other. This is our compass.

2 Corinthians 3: 17  "Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom".

We  our truly  "set free"... Praise be to the Lord.

Wisdom our foundation

I am looking at Matthew 7:24-28

(Yet it did not fall, because it had its foundations on rock- v25)

I remember in my teens, I was blessed to have the opportunity go on camping holidays in France, what a experience building the tents, by pegging the ropes in the soft soil, sleeping under the stars and listening to the wild life, most of the time it was wonderful. However, not so wonderful if the weather was not so great, fighting with the elements like wind and rain, Trying to stop the tents from disappearing off into the distance or pinning the ground sheet down with bags to stop the rain pouring in, feeling cold and tired... Looking forward to returning home to my nice warm bed and feeling safe and secure in our house.
I think learning God's wisdom is the same, the foundations have to be strong and deep rooted. So we can build on them.
In this parable Jesus emphasizes that it is not enough to hear his word, you have to act on them too. Wisdom is the foundation that will provide a secure basis for our life. It will give us strength so that we will not collapse when we have to face the storms in our own lives.
I am slowly learning how to put God's wisdom into practice with his support, knowledge and guidance.
Thank you Lord for being my rock.

Getting wisdom

I am looking at Proverbs 3:13-26

(Blessed our those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding- v13)

Every day I have to make decisions and choices, life can be so challenging and demanding.Whatever action I take, will have consequences, so how do I make the right choice?
Reading these verses really put it beautifully in prospective for me.
Wisdom is more precious than rubies and is more profitable than silver and gold.

"By wisdom the Lord laid the earth's foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
by his knowledge the deeps were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew".

The whole bible contains God's wisdom.

The video below is a great example of how great our God is.

Crabbit old woman

A very special lady shared this poem with me and others and it has always stayed close to my heart...
"Crabbit Old Woman"
What do you see, what do you see?
Are you thinking, when you look at me-
A crabbit old woman, not very wise,
Uncertain of habit, with far-away eyes,
Who dribbles her food and makes no reply
When you say in a loud voice,
I do wish you'd try.
Who seems not to notice the things that you do
And forever is loosing a stocking or shoe.
Who, unresisting or not; lets you do as you will
With bathing and feeding the long day is fill.
Is that what you're thinking,
Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes,
nurse, you're looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am as I sit here so still!
As I rise at your bidding, as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of 10 with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters, who loved one another-
A young girl of 16 with wings on her feet,
Dreaming that soon now a lover she'll meet,
A bride soon at 20- my heart gives a leap,
Remembering the vows that I promised to keep.
At 25 now I have young of my own
Who need me to build a secure happy home;
A woman of 30, my young now grow fast,
Bound to each other with ties that should last;
At 40, my young sons have grown and are gone,
But my man's beside me to see I don't mourn;
At 50 once more babies play around my knee,
Again we know children, my loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me, my husband is dead,
I look at the future, I shudder with dread,
For my young are all rearing young of their own.
And I think of the years and the love that I've known;
I'm an old woman now and nature is cruel-
Tis her jest to make old age look like a fool.
The body is crumbled, grace and vigor depart,
There is now a stone where I once had a heart,
But inside this old carcass, a young girl still dwells,
And now and again my battered heart swells,
I remember the joy, I remember the pain,
And I'm loving and living life over again.
I think of the years all too few- gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact that nothing can last-
So open your eyes, nurse, open and see,
Not a crabbit old woman, look closer-
See Me.

I thank God for all the wisdom and knowledge he was given me in my life.
