(Blessed our those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding- v13)
Every day I have to make decisions and choices, life can be so challenging and demanding.Whatever action I take, will have consequences, so how do I make the right choice?
Reading these verses really put it beautifully in prospective for me.
Wisdom is more precious than rubies and is more profitable than silver and gold.
"By wisdom the Lord laid the earth's foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
by his knowledge the deeps were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew".
The whole bible contains God's wisdom.
The video below is a great example of how great our God is.
"By their fruit you will recognize them... Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit"(vv16-17)
The scripture reminded me of this...
A while ago I was surfing the net and came upon a very interesting article, a young student was doing an experiment on testing microwaves. She got herself two plants. She gave one plant water that was pure natural water. The other plant, she gave with the same water but it had been heated up in the microwave and then cooled down to room temperature. Every day she watered the plants with equal amounts of water and at the same time. As the days went on, the plant with the natural water, bloomed and grew strong but unfortunately the plant with the microwave water, withered and dried up.
What is a false prophet? I am not qualified to say who is or who isn't. I listen to people talking about what the bible means and am grateful for their help but I listen with my heart more and if it doesn't make sense to me I ask God in prayer to help me. I can't judge anyone I still have problems with my own plank. Jesus says "Watch out" which implies to me that we all have to do our part, it is a two way relationship.
In 2 Peter1:5-8 - "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measures, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ".
I trust in God and know he will lead me the right way. He has never let me down and I am never alone.
(But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. -v 14)
This is a very complicated Scripture and for two verses, there is a lot to think about and understand. When I first read it, I could not understand the meaning of what Jesus was teaching at all. By doing some research I could see I wasn't alone. The first sentence says "Enter through the narrow gate" Which implies that Jesus wants us to go through that gate. I have given it great thought and the only way I can relate to it, is by this next paragraph...
When my son was young I used to drive him to school. My journey would consist, of driving on a busy main road, it was very stressful. We were bumper to bumper going at a snail's pace. I used to sit there following everyone else, seeing people frustrated, beeping horns, shaking fist at each other and I would be worrying, would we be late for school. So I decided that there must be a better way! Being that I knew the area, I started to use the smaller roads. There was hardly any traffic, however I had to pay attention because children used this route to walk to school and sometimes the odd cars but I felt a lot safer. I began to enjoy the journeys and it started my day well.
Having God in my life makes me feel the same way, paying attention and listening to His word. I find situations a lot less stressful and have a better life.
I might not have completely got this meaning right but I would like to think I am on the right road. With Jesus' help I know I will get there.
(Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you - v7)
My first encounter with God was when I was in my teens, I wasn't particularly interested in seeking God at that time but unusual circumstances happened and they seemed to draw me to Him. When I look back, I know now God was looking out for me. He knows everything about me and has never let me down. I am so blessed to have God in my life.
I know in my heart that God loves me, He wants me to be happy and has always protected me, even when I have walked away from Him. God has always answered my prayers. He is patient, loving, faithful, trustworthy, supportive and understanding. He is my rock.
The video below shows just how much God loves us, all we have to do is ask, seek and knock... "there is power in the name of Jesus"
Father, thank you for loving me so much.
Thank you to NVY HUMAN VIDEO YOUTH SERVICES for sharing this amazing video.
(Do not judge or you too will be judged, for in the same way as you judge, you will be judged - v1)
Just give me a moment, I am trying to see the keyboard...
I bow my head in shame. I am sure that I am not alone.
This is a powerful Scripture and Jesus is not holding back. He is telling it like it is and the truth does hurt. Talk about a wake-up call.
How many times a day do we judge others, weather it be by something, someone told you or a person's actions. People make their own judgement about a person, depending on if the have a good relationship with them or bad one. We tend to go along believing what they said or we heard, without knowing that person ourselves.
It's all around us every day, people are judged on how they look, the clothes they wear, the job they do, where they live, how they live, how much money they have or haven't, what car they drive, it's never ending. It is so easy for people to make hurtful comments about someone, the consequences can be destructive. But Jesus is giving us a warning... to be careful. "For in the same way as you judge, you will be judged".
Being judgmental and critical about others is not God's way.
Let's try and be aware of what we say about or speak to people. Will it make them happy?, cheer up their day? give them confidence?, will it be encouraging and inspiring for them to do better for themselves?
Let our actions speak louder than our words and fill people's hearts with joy,
God is about love and blessings.
