Today I am studying Matthew 6:1-4
(But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret -v3)
When you look at the world today, there are so many people in need, and many people are generous with their help.
However, here Jesus is warning us to be aware of seeking to impress people. He not saying we can't be impressive. Jesus is more concerned about our motives. God looks at the heart and not the hand, He wants us to help people, out of compassion and love, with the desire to make a difference in someones life, which is a reflection of him.
If our motives are only to hear people praising us, then we have already received our reward...but it is on earth and not in heaven.
God knows our needs before we ask him.
We are all brothers and sisters together, we all have the strength in our hearts to love and help each others, with Jesus' guidance and support.
